Located in the London borough of Merton South London, Mitcham test centre is used by candidates from Croydon, Crystal Palace, Stretham, Beddington and the surrounding areas. If you’re comfortable booking your driving test online, you can use the DVSA’s website to book a driving test in Mitcham. The website is efficient and it takes around 10 – 15 minutes from start to finish, assuming you’re able to find a suitable test date. Follow these directions if you’re walking from the train station to the test centre;
- Walk east from Mitcham Junction.
- Turn left onto Carshalton Rd/A237 then turn left.
- Turn left and take the stairs.
- Turn left onto Beddington Ln/B272.
- Turn right onto Brookmead Rd then turn left.
- Turn right onto Redhouse Rd
- Turn left and the test centre will be on your right-hand side.
If you’re driving to the test centre it’s worth remembering that there’s limited on-site parking. Please be considerate if you do plan on waiting at the test centre, as the bays could be used by other candidates on their tests.
Mitcham Driving Test Centre pass rates
Over 10,000 tests were taken at Mitcham Driving Test Centre in 2019/20. The site had an overall pass rate of 42.2%, but when you dig a bit deeper, there was quite a difference between the male and female pass rates. Local roads in and around Mitcham
The test centre is located just off the A236. It’s a busy road with parked cars on either side so look out for pedestrians and vehicles moving off from the side of the road. There’s also a number of residential roads in and around Mitcham. These roads are narrow, and most have a 20mph speed limit, so proceed with caution.
